Southwold Bed and Breakfast Accommodation

Pauline ArcherHome@21 is run by myself ~ Pauline Archer. “Home@21” is aptly named – firstly it is my “home”, and secondly I live at No. 21, opposite one of the most stunning views of Southwold: The Sea. Our award winning Southwold Pier is 100 yards in one direction and the short walk into town is approx 300 yards in the opposite direction. We are as close as you can get to Southwold Beach, its world famous promenade and beach huts.

I bought this beautiful 1895 Victorian building in January 2006, spending the first 3 winters restoring it back to its natural beauty. I now believe Home@21 bed and breakfast Southwold offers some of the best accommodation in the town.

I am a small, friendly bed and breakfast, running 3 rooms – two double en suites and one twin room. We are Highly Commended by the A.A. with a 4 Star Rating. I have two local ladies that help me, and between us we try to make your stay as relaxing and comfortable as possible. We believe that you will not find a better b & b in Southwold.

My motto is “Chill darlings it’s Southwold”.

Southwold ~ How Did I Get Here?

I was introduced to Southwold in 1993 by a friend who had invited me to stay. I fell in love with Southwold straightaway and like many others, returned as frequently as I could.

I bought a cottage called “Lighthouse View” and when I decided I had had enough of London life, pursued my dream of one day owning a bed and breakfast hotel by the sea. Where else to fulfil that dream other than Southwold? So in 2005 I set about selling my home in Essex and moving to Suffolk.

I arrived one dismal, wet, January evening and after a week of trying to unpack and make sense of the chaos, I wondered what on earth I had done. The realisation of selling up and leaving family and friends hit me. The mammoth task ahead of renovating this large house was quite awesome.

After summoning up the troops (the family), and splashing enough magnolia on the walls to cover up the rag rolling – ( the previous owner had been watching too many DIY programmes), I was ready to open for guests Easter, 2006.

My final guest left at the end of October 2006 and with a great “phew”, my very first season was over. I had not only lasted the course, but realised I had enjoyed my season immensely. I had met some incredibly funny, beautiful, interesting and great people, who all enjoyed the gorgeousness of Southwold.

The years of 2007 and 2008 were again renovating winters. The house is now beautiful and I am so proud to share it with you.
